Haunted Bar: Carlito's Way Cocktail Lounge

GHOULA members were first attracted to Carlito’s Way Cocktail Lounge after hearing of alleged sightings of “shadow people” within its walls. What they ended up with was a hotbed of paranormal activity. Inviting people to Carlito’s Way, Richard Carradine proposed, “Are they the residue energy of bar-flies that used to frequent this establishment?”

Within supernatural circles, “shadow people” are considered a type of spirit most frequently appearing in the corner of your eye as a dark humanoid form, though their alleged purpose varies from working as angels to demons.

While there were no sightings of “shadow people” when they visited, a psychic with the group did sense a “death imprint,” photos taken by the group captured “orbs” inside the bar, and a couple possible explanations for the hauntings were discovered.

To start, it turned out the bar was used as a featured location in “Twilight Zone” feature film, standing in for “The Tender Trap” in one sequence. During production, at the nearby Universal Studios, star Vic Morrow was decapitated and two child actors killed in a freak accident with a low flying helicopter.

More recently, in 2006 the previous owner was seen arguing with his wife at the bar before he drove her home and allegedly shot her to death. He has been on the run ever since. The bar, then called “Lucerne,” quickly changed its name.

Whether shadow people were in any way responsible for either tragic event is up for debate.
