Pushing Daisies tries to have it both ways when it comes to pesky death and, this being television, it succeeds. The hyper-gloss world of shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives comes to this supernatural one-hour comedy about raising (and then re-lowering) the dead. Kristin Chenoweth, Swoozie Kurtz, Jim Dale (yes, three Tony-winning actors in one show) and Ellen Green (Tony-nominated) definitely make it worth a look. It premieres tonight at 8:00 PM on ABC.
In today’s LA Times review, Robert Lloyd said the look of the show reminded him of Tim Burton, David Lynch and the Coen brothers. Like I said, worth a look.
