He sees pumpkin people

mad-face-large.jpgIf you dare think you’ve got mad pumpkin carving skills, check out LAist’s interview with Jim Olsen, a 25 year vet of the craft who writer Jeremy Olberstein found demonstrating his work at The Grove this weekend.

Some of his highly detailed jack-o-lanterns take up to six hours to make… and that six uninterrupted hours: “I can’t set this pumpkin aside and not work on it, because the flesh becomes rubbery and it wants to tear and doesn’t want to cut. Once you start, you’ve got to stick with it until it’s finished.”
