Standing in line at Gelson’s last week, I spotted waxlips and chocolate marshmallow pumpkins! Sadly, the wax lips were sans fangs, so I declined purchasing. I immediately IM’d allhallowsteve who told me that Target’s Halloween decorations were already up.
The saddest part? An elderly gentleman behind me in line watching me as I pondered the candy.
“It’s Halloween candy!”
“When is Halloween? The end of September?”
“No, the end of October.”
“Oh, when I was young, I always remembered these things.”
That made me sad. I tried to make him feel better by saying something about the lack of seasons and how easy it was to forget, but I don’t think it helped.
Any other candy spottings? Let us know!

I saw halloween candy on display at the Vons on Santa Monica Blvd at Barrington in West L.A. last night, and the Costume Shop seasonal store in the same shopping center has had its now-hiring sign up for weeks now.
I just drove past “Halloween Spirit” – new store in the works on Lankershim and Magnolia (I think Hesby, to be exact.) They were just putting up signage.
Just to clarify: the Target I was in had put out the Halloween M&Ms in all their sizes and flavors, and the novelty Halloween shirts had made their appearance.
I can’t wait for Target to really put up their ENTIRE Halloween inventory. Right now those aisles are filled with dumb ol’ notebooks and pencils. Dumb ol’ notebooks and pencils………
