Haunted Hikes is a fun little book detailing the adventures of the books author, Andrea Lankford, a former park ranger.  In this fun little book the author briefly describes hikes and places of interest from the golden coasts of California to the wind swept and often eerie coves of the Eastern Seaboard.

Haunted Hikes has a trip to match every fitness level, many are wheelchair accessible.  Each hike includes a trail map for use on the trail and marks all places of interest along the path.

Each trail is also rated as to its ‘fright factor’.  One of the most disturbing being an ancient Hopi Indian myth associated with the Grand Canyon.  Within the Canyon is the lair of Maasaw, the proverbial ‘angel of death’ in Hopi mythology.

Maasaw is a frightening figure, often appearing as a hideous corpse with jagged and cracked teeth, caked in blood and with a foul stench.

His abode is a cave deep within the canyon and those who go there have experienced everything from bone-breaking falls to nausea and death!

Haunted Hikes is a comprehensive expose of just about every notable hike and a must have for a serious hiker with a need for a freaky fright.  Even if you don’t like the outdoors, its still a pretty good book to curl up next to the fireplace with for a hair raising read.  If you have a tail about a hunted hike, you can report it at www.hauntedhiker.com.

OooOooOooh, what a fun and creepy idea for a book. I’d love to read it. Although I’m too much of a scaredy cat to actually go on a haunted hike.

Natalie, you crack me up, LOL. I don’t think that I have every met anyone so into ghosts, but so prone to pee her paints if she ever saw one!

Take care.
