Creepy Christmas

It’s Grinchmas Time in the City

by La Llorona Mona on December 17, 2008

If anyone has put their creepy stamp on the Christmas season, it is The Grinch. I can think of few things creepier than tying an antler to a teeny dog’s head and demanding it to haul a gargantuan bag of stolen booty.

Ah yes, the Grinch is not only creepy, he’s mean (so says his theme song). So mean, in fact, that he has stolen the entire Curious George exhibit in Universal Studios and has installed his own attraction. From now through December 31st, anyone can go down to the movie theme park and see The Grinch, his loyal dog/reindeer Max, Cindy Lou and every Who in Whoville.

Inspired by the film starring Jim Carey (which was inspired by the original animated cartoon by Chuck Jones, which was, in turn inspired by the original children’s book written by Dr. Seuss), Whoville’s Grinchmas opened with a visit from none other than LA’s own Mayor Villaraigosa making an appearance, claiming to be the Mayor of Whoville as well.

The Grinchmas Celebration is included in the price of admission to the theme park and will ensue every weekend through December 22, and daily thereafter through December 31st. And for the first time ever, Universal Studios will be open on Christmas Day!

If you feel like ripping yourself away from the marathons of Christmas movies and feel like stuffing a little bit of creepy, mean Grinchitude in with your holly, jolly Christmas, shuffle on down to Universal Studios for a glimpse of The Grinch.

by Mighty Worm on December 1, 2008

Happy December 1st!

And to celebrate why not stroll over to the Creepy Christmas Film Festival, which is offering up 25 days of weird and creepy holiday shorts. A new film every day!

They are also offering up their own brand of creepy advent calendar.

Today’s inaugural film isn’t anything great, but it gives an idea of what is to come. There are some interesting filmmakers in the line-up (which can be found after the jump), so check it out and have yourself a bit of xmas spooky every day all month long.

Yo, ho, yo, ho! ho! ho!

by Creepy on November 20, 2008

Pirates like booty. Santa’s got a lot of booty.

As was bound to happen, a motley crew of peg legged, one eyed scalywags hijacked Santa and his sleigh.

Now its up to a girl named Eve and a handful of sea chanty-ish Christmas carol music numbers to save him!

Full grown sailors can bring one ankle biter for free with a $25 ticket. Additional ankle biters will be allowed aboard for $10 in bullion, not coal. Opens tonite.

November 20-28th, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, weekend matinees at 3pm
NoHo Arts Centre
11136 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, 91601
