CreepyLA, the Los Angeles Halloween blog, is looking for writers for its 2011 season (September and October).
If you have a love for Halloween, a passion for the macabre, or an interest in the supernatural, we’re looking at you! (Literally… we have lizard men staking you out from a nearby gutter – please don’t wave or make eye contact, it freaks them out).
Since 2007, CreepyLA has been an online destination for news about Halloween related events, such as yard haunts, professional haunted attractions, and Day of the Dead festivals, along with horror film screenings and fests, tales of local hauntings, and other things to do outside the norm. Featuring an interactive map of over 100 haunted Los Angeles spots, CreepyLA generated over 200,000 page views last October alone.
If you’re interested in becoming “one of us” please email the following to creepyla@gmail.com :
- A link to your blog or other online samples of your writing (if not online, please attach or include in the email). Previous writing experience isn’t a necessity, but we want a feel for your style.
- A summary of the kinds of topics you’d like to cover. While we hope everyone can cover a wide variety of subjects, if there’s a particular specialty or interest you’d like to focus on, let us know. Maybe you’d like to post a photo a day of neighborhood yard decor, or focus on the history of the occult in L.A., do a series on horror films that take place or have been shot on location in Southern California, or possibly you’re a pumpkin carving whiz and you want to share a tip a week with the readers on how to make the perfectly twisted jack-o-lantern.
- How often you believe you can contribute to CreepyLA – ideally, we’re hoping for people who can contribute short posts 2 or 3 times per week, but let us know if you can do more or less with some regularity.
- And tell us anything else you think we should know about you that would make you a perfectly spooky addition to the CreepyLA roster.
Note: This is an unpaid gig. However, regular contributors will be able to use their CreepyLA credentials to gain free access to screenings, haunted attractions, and festivals, review copies of books and CDs, and more.
