Classic silent film + live pipe organist = creepy Halloween fun

cabinet.jpgI really don’t understand why anyone would rather do anything besides trick or treating on Halloween night… or frightening the trick or treaters. But, I guess some people do grow up. These, by the way, are the same people who’ll appreciate having plenty of advance notice for this annual event held by the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Halloween night, “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” will be shown at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with a live pipe organ soundtrack performed by “the renowned” Clark Wilson.

“Caligari” is a surreal 1920 silent film from Germany featuring expressionist sets, and a story full of somnambulists, carnivals, and murder! Get the ClifNotes version at the always reliable Wikipedia.

The good folks at the Phil also tip me off UCLA’s organist, Christopher Bull, will also be performing a free presentation before the concert.
