Unofficially, this is the last week before the Halloween season kicks off with the opening of Knotts Halloween Haunt on September 25th, but especially for Los Angeles area horror fans, your schedule will be packed until then!
On Friday you can hit up the drive in for Wait Until Dark and then scoot over to see a midnight screening of Fright Night with a cast and crew reunion. Saturday night watch Aliens at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, then catch the New Beverly’s midnight screening of The Keep.
Then Sunday, experience real life arachnophobia at the Natural History Museum, which puts you up close with hundreds of spiders – with no glass or net to protect you from them. Even more creepy fun, after the jump…

Spider Pavilion at the Natural History Museum
Think of it as a petting zoo, but with spiders.
“This walk-through landscaped pavilion is home to hundreds of free roaming spiders and is the first exhibit of its kind in the United States… The Spider Pavilion grants guests the rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the spiders’ habitat and witness the day-to-day lives of these arachnids… Spider Pavilion visitors can get up close to these orb weaver spiders by enjoying tours guided by exhibition interpreters or exploring the enclosed greenhouse area independently.”
Natural History Museum, 900 Exposition Boulevard

Gris Grimly’s short film Cannibal Flesh Riot
“Granted, it is a small screen in a small bar with bad speakers, but what better environment for a cheesy film about whiskey guzzling/cigarello puffing ghouls. There is no cover and there will be $3 mystery beers and $5 mystery shots, leaving enough cash in your pocket to buy CFR DVDs, CDs and T-shirts. Not to mention everyone who attends will get a free CFR movie poster.”
Director Gris Grimly will be in attendance.
