Thousand Oak’s “Reign of Terror” haunted attraction is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this October, and promises to be 30% larger, and threatens to be 200% more chilling.
Creator Bruce Stanton tells me of “ROT,” shorthand for Reign of Terror: “We are going balls out this year for a super impressive event, 20 rooms of full detail terror. Lots of new animations and very well thought out scares that no one will see coming.”
What began as a yard haunt in front of Bruce’s house became so popular that last year it moved to the Conejo Rec and Park Center, and this year is expanding to the Janss Marketplace. ROT has been featured in Make Magazine, and ranked among the country’s ten best haunts by both Fear.net and HauntedAttractions.com. But while its getting bigger, Bruce isn’t cashing in on the fright fame – proceeds will be donated to the Conejo Recreation & Parks District Youth Charities.
See below for Fright.net’s video coverage from 2007, back when ROT was it was a yard haunt… then imagine what it would be like “balls out.” Frightening!
