According to a legend, a pair of lovers were crushed by a falling tree while picnicking here in 1976. Their cremated remains were soon scattered nearby. Ever since, tragedy has befallen many who have visited, and strange whispers warning hikers to go away have been heard.

Whether the original source for this tale is a hoax or not is of much debate, as paranormal activity has been reported by many who have visited since the first story of the haunted picnic table appeared, and the curse of Griffith Park, which this may or not be part of, has existed for well over a decade.
