Creepy Cute Crochet is a super gift for crafters and non-crafters alike. This book might be a bit of a challenge if you’re new to crochet, as the patterns require a basic knowledge of crochet terms and processes. The first section of the book goes over the fundamentals – tools, materials and crochet basics – but it takes some time to get literate. The flipping back and forth to the guides can get a bit tedious, but ending up with your own little creature is well worth the effort.
I chose to craft this little guy (Wilbur, as he is now called) primarily because his was the easiest pattern to follow and the stitch used to create is body is the basic stitch for all the other critters in the book. Wilbur took a little less than an hour to make. The most difficult thing was trying to get the antennae to stand up straight. It was a little bit frustrating trying to make sense of the pattern. (Pipe cleaners would have been an easy substitute). In the end, they look like antennae, although not like the picture in the book. He’s still a precious boy.
