Stan Lee’s Comikaze, the all things geek convention being held at the L.A. Convention Center on September 15th and 16th, has just announced the addition of “Zombie Apocalypse” to the event’s already large roster of panels, signings, and other entertainment for fans of sci-fi, horror, comics, gaming, and anime.
For $30, event attendees can be part of the “Zombie Apocalypse” as either a survivor or zombie in a 75,000 square foot obstacle course.
Survivors will need to “crawl, climb, and slide your way to safety from some of the most ferocious zombies that want your brains!” Wanna-be zombies will get a zombie makeover from professional makeup effects artists before being set loose to “terrorize survivors to their heart’s content.”
Regina Carpenelli, creator and CEO of Comikaze, told CreepyLA that in addition to ticketed zombies the courses will be stocked with “highly professional zombies” they’ve recently brought back from the dead.
“It’s not going to be easy,” Carpinelli said flatly of the professionally laid out obstacle course. But she added it’s still accessible enough that, “my 51-year-old-mother could do it.”
A large portion of proceeds from zombie admissions will go to a local center for children with terminal diseases.
Admission to “Zombie Apocalypse” is separate from “Comikaze,” allowing attendees the choice to attend one but not the other.
However, horror fans should consider both: for starters, you may be surprised to know Comikaze co-owned by Stan Lee and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Both will have mini-museums set up at the convention, which will include contents of Elvira’s personal collection of props and even her car. “The Walking Dead” castmembers Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Madison Lintz (Sophia), and “The Exorcist’s” Linda Blair are scheduled to appear, and numerous other horror related vendors and events are being added to their schedule daily.
